Department of World Economy and International Relations of the Tajik State University of Commerce on the basis of the decision of the meeting of the Academic Council under No. 11 of 07/14/1995. established and continues to operate.

The activity of the head of the department in the first periods of formation depended on the search and selection of specialists. In the development of the department's activities, associate professors Kurbanmuradov M.B., Utaganov A.A., Gaforov Sh., Khodzhaev G., Kurbanova Z. contributed and took on the tasks of organizing and implementing the activities of the department.

From May 11, 2022, the position of the head of the department is replaced by a candidate of economic sciences, acting Associate Professor Abdualim Khomidov.

According to the educational program, the main subjects of the department were the following subjects: world economy, international economic relations, foreign economic activity, foreign economic activity of an enterprise, national economic planning, environmental economics, economic geography on a demographic basis, etc.

At the beginning of the activity, the teachers of this department had to prepare scientific and methodological programs for writing diplomas, term papers, tests, conducting educational and industrial practice based on the new economic policy. Also, for the department, the search for textbooks, teaching aids, visualizations, and documentation was extremely necessary. The teachers of the department regularly improved their knowledge and introduced new teaching methods, conducting theoretical and practical classes in accordance with modern requirements in the direction of finding qualified specialists.Многие популярные педагоги нашей страны также были приглашены на работу в кафедру  для проведения модельных уроков.

The results show that students are actively studying in the specialty of world economics. The proof of this statement is that students of this specialty 4 times took first place in the Olympiads among Tajik universities. Many graduates of this specialty have defended their Ph.D. dissertations, and also successfully work in enterprises and ministries of Tajikistan and foreign countries.

The teachers of the department were able to write more than 20 textbooks for the course of lectures and prepare a large number of guidelines and present them to students and readers.

Since 2015, another specialty has been established at the department - the organization of international relations.

The name of the Department of World Economy based on the decision of the meeting of the Academic Council of the university under No. 3 of 24.10. 2017 was transformed into the Department of World Economy and International Relations.
