The Department of Economic Theory was established on August 16, 1994, based on the decision of the Council of Scientists of this Institute of Science and Education.

During the many years of its activity, the department has provided textbooks, educational, methodological and scientific tools, including the works of Professor Isomatov B. It is rich and provided.

The department has the necessary educational, methodological and scientific materials for students and specialists in economic fields for all educational subjects.

Candidate and doctoral theses are discussed in the department, and as a leading department, it is making a significant contribution to the training of candidates of science and scientific workers in economic areas.

From October 2021, the candidate of economic sciences, associate professor Tuychikulov Zuhaljan Jonikulovych will work as the head of the department.

The teachers of the department teach the subjects of economic theory, microeconomics, macroeconomics, history of economic thought, history of business, history of economy, history and theory of cooperation.

The scientific researches of the teachers of the department have a theoretical nature and are carried out in two directions: the study of the problems of the economic opinion of the Tajik people and the theoretical issues of the transition to the market economy.

Associate Professor Tuychikulov Z.J., Professor Isomatov B.I., Associate Professor Yunusova M.M., Yusupova Z.R. and Mashokirov J. N. research on the topics "Smooth development of the consumer cooperation system", "Issues of the quality of industrial products", "Social factors of the development of the national economy", "Regeneration of the workforce and employment in the Republic of Tajikistan" and "Organizational and economic aspects of improving the quality of services in the conditions of the market economy" are being conducted scientifically.

The professors of the department have written and published scientific, scientific-methodical articles and works, as well as textbooks.

The scientific club of students named "Theoreticians" operates under the department, whose active members take pride of place in the republican olympiads in the field of economic theory.

In recent years, by the decision of the Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, five textbooks on economic theory for economic and non-economic qualifications, four educational-methodical collections on the subjects of economic theory and microeconomics, and a monograph called "From the economic opinion of ancestors" (author , professor B. Isomatov) by the teachers of the department M. Yunusova, B. Isomatov I., Mukhadberdiev H.M., Karimberdiev O.K., were published.

In March 2018, the textbooks "Economic Theory", part 1 - th and "Microeconomics", part 2 - th of docent Mukhadberdiev Kh. and senior teacher Mashokirov J.N. recommended for publication by the decision of the Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The teachers of the department will further develop separate books for students on each separate part of the subject of economic theory and make them available to students.
